Country singer Kimberly Perry of the group the Band Perry is engaged! To J.P. Arencibia, the catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, who proposed Monday night!
Arencibia popped the question with an emerald cut diamond engagement ring, but it's the proposal that has everyone swooning about this couple.
The ballplayer proposed under a large oak tree on her parents' 15-acre property in Greenville, Tenn., in a surprise that would be any girl's fairy tale.
Perry thought she would be picking him up from the airport, but he surprised her under the tree when her family called her out of the house for dinner.
Even better?
"If I get proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree," the 27-year-old had previously said. "I saw it and I thought, 'This is really happening.'"
So Kimberly's mom sent her back into the house to put on a pink dress she'd saved for just this occasion, and the magical surprises didn't end there.
That's where she also found a letter from her family and an heirloom bracelet that her grandfather had given to her grandmother when they started dating.
"I got to read the letter and get dressed and put on my grandfather's bracelet," Perry said. "I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there."
"He got down on one knee. It was perfect."
The two have been dating for about a year and a half. They met in February 2012 at a strawberry festival in Florida, but he was a fan before that.
Arencibia, 30, had seen her "If I Die Young" music video and told her that he "had this moment where he felt like that was going to be a part of his future."
He's also got the approval of her two younger brothers and bandmates, Neil and Reid Perry, and they plan to get married next summer. Congrats!
