The two-year old son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was brutally attacked by the man dating the child's mother and rushed to a hospital in South Dakota.
Sources tell TMZ that the toddler is in critical condition and his head injuries are consistent with abuse.
Joseph Patterson, 27, has been arrested for the heinous act and charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant.
Peterson nearly broke the single-season league rushing record last season and was the NFL MVP. We send him and his family our best wishes during this difficult time.
