How did Simon Cowell react to the news that he was going to be a father?
Was he overwhelmed with joy? Was he blindsided by Lauren Silverman?
A little of both.
In an interview on Ellen airing Tuesday, he says he thought âOh my God, this is exciting, and itâs going to be a bit of a nightmare for the next few weeks.â
Heâs referring to the fact that Lauren Silverman was still with her husband, Andrew, as the baby news broke earlier this summer. Recalls Cowell:
âIt was kind of uncomfortable. You know, the situation. But these things happen and everything is calm now and Iâm happy. Iâm happier than Iâve ever been.â
Cowell admits that despite all the stressful attention, the mom-to-be (who already has a 7-year-old son with her now ex-husband) is âin a really good place.â
Simon also defended Silverman, whom he recently spent time with in the south of France, against some less than flattering celebrity gossip reports.
âThere was a lot of stuff said about her, that she trapped me and that sheâs a gold digger. Absolute nonsense,â Cowell says. âSheâs a great girl.â
The British music mogul, who is expecting a boy, says his first child will be raised in New York City (where Lauren lives), Los Angeles and London.
