Miley Cyrus may have the number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100.
But she no longer has the top spot on iTunes.
That honor now belongs to Lorde, a 16-year old whose single overtook "We Can't Stop" yesterday and who Tweeted about the achievement excitedly... with one caveat.
âwo #1 on US itunes," Lorde wrote. "even if it lasts an hour i feel HAPPY. downside is all these miley fans telling me theyâre gonna stab my rotting corpse.â
Cyrus, to her credit, learned of her fans giving this rising artist a hard time and jumped to her defense on Twitter, writing last night:
â@lordemusic why r people so mean??? Ps your music is awesome.â
Miley, of course, can relate to folks being mean these days. She continues to be under fire for her lewd MTV Video Music Awards performance and her naked Wrecking Ball video.
Of the former, Cher recently said "she can't dance [and] her body looked like hell."
Ouch, harsh stuff, Cher. Very harsh stuff.
