Krokodil, Disgusting Flesh-Eating Drug from Russia, Discovered in United States

Walter White may be on his way out, but a a frightening new drug appears to be on its way into the United States.

USA Today writes that two cases of "krokodil" have been discovered in Arizona, with health officials in that state confirming the appearance of this heroin-like, fresh and bone-rotting opiate.

It originated in Russia and it's made by combining over-the-counter codeine-based headache pills mixed with iodine, gasoline, paint thinner or alcohol

These Arizona sightings are believed to be the first krokodil cases in the U.S., and let's hope they are the last.

When injected, the drug destroys one's tissue. As depicted in the disturbing video above, it then turns a user's skin scaly a green, leading to sores and often times blood poisoning.

According to Time Magazine, the average life expectancy among krokodil addicts in Russia is two to three years.

But it rose to popularity in Siberia and Far Eastern Russia because it typically costs three times less than heroin, while eliciting a similar high.

Frank LoVecchio, the co-medical director at the Banner Good Samaritan Poison & Drug Information Center, did not reveal to local news stations in Arizona just where the krokodil users were found.
