Katy Perryâs new single, âRoar,â is a smash big hit with her fans.
Not so much with PETA, due to its jungle-themed music video.
The animal rights group is slamming the use of the creatures in Perryâs video, which features the singer cavorting with monkeys, elephants and tigers.
âAnimals used for entertainment endure horrific cruelty and suffer from extreme confinement and violent training methods,â a PETA spokesman said.
The group added of the animals, âThey often become stressed and anxious when hauled around and forced into unfamiliar or frightening situations.â
The group, long-critical of animal rights practices in Hollywood, suspects animal exhibitor Serengeti Ranch was behind the Katy Perry âRoarâ video.
According to PETA's claims, Serengeti Ranch is an organization that âhas been inspected by the US Department of Agriculture 22 times since 2001.â
In any case, âRoarâ sold over 559,000 copies and became a No. 1 hit for Perry, who was heralded by PETA for her vegetarian lifestyle in the past.
