In a new interview with JET, Chris Brown says he identifies with Trayvon Martin, while Jay Z gets a free pass compared to him, despite his own checkered past.
The singer, claiming shared experiences with Martin, says, âI identify with Trayvon 100 percent as far as living in 2013 and still dealing with blatant racism.â
âThis generation is so used to racism that itâs normal; we donât care. We arenât on drugs or catching AIDS, but they still look at us as ni**as,â Brown adds.
As for his reputation, the star claims he's unfairly singled out.
âNo disrespect, because Iâm a fan, but nobody brings up the fact that [Jay Z] stabbed somebody and sold drugs,â observes Brown. âHe gets a pass.â
Regardless of how you feel about that comparison, Brownâs anger issues are well-documented, and he says he's worked hard to overcome them:
âYou have to go through the struggle before you can get to the good part. I donât try to last out at people, or be as mad or impulsive as I used to be.â
Overwhelmed by scrutiny, Brown feels as though heâs been pushed to the edge, and appears to liken himself to a slave with the following comment:
âI got to the point where itâs only so much you can take from the master, you feel me?â he asks the magazine. âIâve taken my fair share of lashings.â
Regarding the never-ending Rihanna and Karrueche situation, he says, "Relationships are the most difficult part" for him, but he's handled them like a man.
"I was honest with those two girls and I put out that video (above)," he says.
Brown, who calls himself single now, admits, "My ex and I broke up because of the 'situation' and she had moved on. I fell in love with another girl."
"Then my ex came back, so it was like, 'What is a man to do?'"
"I told them both the truth. I didnât do the sucker role."Â
What do you think of Chris Brown's comments regarding Rihanna, Karrueche, Jay Z and Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teen who was shot and killed in 2012?
