Anne Hathaway wasn't the only starlet who made a last-minute dress swap on Oscars night. Django Unchained actress Kerry Washington also had a change of heart -- or, rather, of clothes -- before walking the red carpet at L.A.'s Dolby Theatre on Sunday, Feb. 24.

Washington, 36, was a hit in a coral satin strapless gown by Miu Miu, with Swarovski crystal embellishment on the bodice. But sources confirm to Us Weekly that she was supposed to model the work of another very prominent designer: Marchesa's Georgina Chapman, who just happens to be the wife of movie bigwig Harvey Weinstein, whose studio, The Weinstein Company, produced Django Unchained.

According to the New York Post's Page Six, which first reported the switch, Marchesa created a custom-made frock for the Scandal star to wear to the Academy Awards, but shortly before the big event, Washington decided to ditch the gown and go with the Miu Miu dress instead. Page Six reports that some fashion insiders questioned the choice, largely because of Chapman's marriage to mega-mogul Weinstein: "Isn't it career kamikaze to upset Harvey's wife on such an important night?"

Alas, the reason behind Washington's last-minute change remains a mystery. In Hathaway's case, the swap had to do with her Les Miserables co-star Amanda Seyfried, whose Alexander McQueen dress was too similar to the embroidered tulle Valentino design that the Best Supporting Actress winner had originally planned to wear. (Hathaway opted instead to go with a pink Prada column dress, which sparked the infamous "Darts or Nipples?" debate.)
